Charleston Art Mag Sponsors SC Green Fair Art Activities www.charlestonartmag.com Charleston Art Magazine is proud to help sponsor and organize many of the SC Green Fair’s art activities this year. Set up in a funky, cool yurt provided by Laurel Nest Yurts, Art Mag will be the creative headquarters for the art components of both the Saturday night Greenflix event at the Bus Shed and the main Green Fair event at Marion Square. “With live screen-printing, free clothes swapping, bottle-cap art creating, tons and tons of eco-art at the Art Walk, and a fully costumed Schneblie mascot running around, the art at the Green Fair is going to be truly fantastic,” says Art Mag publisher Olivia Pool. GreenFlix Event: Saturday, September 26, 2009 @ the Bush Shed, 7-11pm. Paintings: In keeping with the theme of The Botany of Desire film, Pamela Bledsoe’s tulip paintings and Lisa Shimko’s apple paintings will be on display. Clothes Swap: Art Mag is organizing a Free Clothes Swap during the event. The public is encouraged to sift through their closets and bring clean, gently worn clothing of all sorts to donate to the Swap. Now is the time to clean out your closets for fall anyway! Donate what you no longer wear to someone who will love it and pick out something for yourself to give new life and love to. Anyone donating a large trash bag size amount of clothes or a large quantity of plastic bottle caps gets a free custom screen print! Live Screen Printing: Local artist and graphic designer Johnny Pundt will be doing live screen printing during the event. Guests are welcome to bring their own clothes and give them new life with a customized screen print. Art Mag Yurt: The Art Mag Yurt will be the central location where people come to purchase any works of art or get any art-related info. Laurel Nest Yurts will be providing the Art Mag funky lounge area where people can come hang out, donate clothes, purchase artwork and custom screen prints. (yurt n. A circular, domed, portable tent most often used by nomadic peoples of central Asia.) Green Fair Event: Sunday, September 27, 2009 @ Marion Square, 12-6pm, free. Art Walk: Check out the environmentally friendly work of over 20 different artists. There will be paintings, photography, jewelry, clothing and accessories, pottery, encaustics, glass work… all of which are either made from recycled materials or inspired by the environment. Adorn your self and home with beautiful Eco-Art works. Bottle Cap Art: Save your plastic bottle caps and help artist Beth Harley of Yo Art! create a piece of art with them. We need all sizes and colors of bottle caps! Schneblies: Schneblies are eco-minded, earth-loving, frog-like creatures made by artist Susie Sheftel. Schneblies remind people on a daily basis to take care of the planet, and there will be live Schneblie mascots and puppets at the Fair to personally remind everyone about reducing, reusing, and recycling. (yurt n. Please Remember to Bring to Both Events: • Plastic bottle caps – all sizes and colors • Clean, gently worn clothes • Anyone donating a large trash bag size amount of clothes or a large quantity of plastic bottle caps gets a free custom screen print! • Desire to support local environmentally conscious artists!
